Answer ( 1 )
Certain foods can exacerbate acne, particularly those high in refined sugars and carbohydrates. Foods like white bread, pastries, sugary drinks, and candy can cause a spike in blood sugar levels, leading to increased insulin production. This insulin surge can stimulate oil production in the skin, contributing to clogged pores and acne breakouts. Additionally, these high-glycemic foods may also trigger inflammation in the body, further aggravating acne-prone skin.
Dairy products, especially those high in fat, have also been linked to worsening acne in some individuals. Milk contains hormones that can influence oil production in the skin, potentially leading to clogged pores and acne flare-ups. Moreover, dairy products can stimulate the production of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), a hormone that may contribute to increased sebum production and skin cell growth, both of which are associated with acne development.
Fried and greasy foods can also be problematic for acne-prone skin. These foods can lead to increased oil production and clogged pores, creating an environment conducive to acne formation. Furthermore, consuming excessive amounts of saturated and trans fats found in fried foods can promote inflammation throughout the body, which can exacerbate existing acne or trigger new breakouts.
